Light Tests and Set Design

This first light test from this angle of my computer is too dark, but it is a place to start. I plan to use multiple camera angles in the video content I produce.

I’ve done a dizzying number of video lighting tests since (finally) receiving my new LED light kit last week. Set dressing, lighting, angles–it’s taking some time get my production value to a place I’m happy with, but I am making progress.

I’m pleased with the lighting from the webcam on my computer, but I need to do something better with the background. Since this is the main angle I’ll use during games, it’s significant to me.

It definitely feels odd to look at myself this much, and to see these ideas coming together. Fun stuff!

Wired

I added my old 17″ MacBook Pro to my office network yesterday by clamping a particleboard platform to some desk shelving at my product photography area. This morning, after I started backing up old files from the laptop to a 5Gb Seagate drive, I connected an old 16-port Netgear switch I found at a local Goodwill last year to my office network. I’ll try to track down a good deal on some CAT-5 at the Tukwilla RePC in the near future, so I can add both this laptop and the iMac I recently upgraded with a 3Tb SSD to the network.
